EVERYTHING THAT’S WRONG WITH YOU (Vse, kar je narobe s tabo) by writer-director Urša Menart is world premiering in the Narrative Competition Programme at the Sarajevo Film Festival 2026. The drama explores the loneliness of a generation that is more connected than ever yet increasingly isolated, tracing a young woman’s search for belonging through the fragile bonds of friendship. With honesty, tenderness and humor, it captures the universal longing for connection in an age of alienation.

SYNOPSIS
MARUŠA feels lost after a traumatic period of taking care of her terminally ill mother. She seeks refuge at her estranged father’s farm, but neither he nor his new family can give her the support she needs. Her only comforts are Billie, her late mother’s man-hating dachshund, and Alja, a young nurse she met online. Alja is an awkward expat who lives and works in a small German beach town and posts humorous videos about her loneliness and her undiagnosed illness. Bonding over their shared struggles and a sense of humor, Maruša and Alja quickly develop a friendship. After hitting a dead end at home, Maruša decides to travel to Germany to spend New Year’s Eve with her new friend. When they finally meet in person, the complexities of their lives, including Alja’s health issues and personal dilemmas, put their fragile friendship to test.

Urša Menart graduated in Film and TV directing from University of Ljubljana Academy of Theatre, Radio, Film and Television. She directed documentaries and co-wrote two feature films: Nightlife (Karlovy Vary IFF 2016) and Half-Sister (Karlovy Vary IFF, 2019). Her debut feature as writer-director My Last Year as a Loser (2018) won multiple awards at the Festival of Slovenian Film, including Best Film. EVERYTHING THAT’S WRONG WITH YOU is her second feature as director.
